Stepping Stones Church Core Beliefs
- We have all sinned and done things that displease God.
- We could never be “good enough.” God is completely holy.
- We need a savior.
- Jesus Christ is God, equal and co-eternal with God the Father. He alone
is qualified to be our savior.
- Jesus died to pay the debt for our sins.
- We are “saved” from our sins when we place our faith and trust
in what Jesus did for us on the cross.
Our Beliefs
Every person needs a Savior
- The Bible is God’s perfect guidebook for living.
- Nothing in creation “just happened.” God made it all.
- There is only one God. He has always existed as the Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit. He is bigger and better and closer than we can imagine.
- Jesus is God showing himself to us. He was God, born of a virgin, lived
a sinless life, died a substitutionary death, and bodily rose again.
- Heaven and hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end.
- Jesus died for our sins. We must put our faith and trust in Him alone
for the forgiveness of our sins. No works are required. Jesus is man’s only
way to heaven.
- There is nothing a believer can do to lose his salvation.
- Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through us now.
- All life is precious to God, even an unborn baby.
- Jesus is coming again.
In essential beliefs —
we have unity.
There is one Body and one Spirit … there is one Lord, one faith, one
baptism, and one God and Father of us all.” Ephesians 4:4-6
In non-essential beliefs —
we have liberty.
Accept Him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable
matters … Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own
master he stands or falls … So then each of us will give an account of himself
to God … So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself
and God.
Romans 14:1,4,12,22
In all our beliefs —
we show love.
If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets
of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains — but have no love,
I amount to nothing at all.
I Corinthians 13:2
